Over 30 years ago

I stepped into my mother's workplace to find that she spent many laborous hours at work caring for the most fragile of human beings. What I discovered was that while the children in her care appeared very different from myself and the children I knew at school, we were very much the same in what we desired on a daily basis.  We all wanted to be loved, touched, played with, feel safe and be seen as individuals.  I learned that we are all the same regardless of our abilities.  That was the beginning of my education in working with children and adults with disabilities.  It has been the foundation of the services provided in the homes that I eventually developed and operate today.
